Hi! I’m Varsha Gartaula, a product designer eager to tackle everyday problems.

Intro

My passion for design stems from a deep desire to understand and improve the way people interact with the world around them.

The following case studies begin with questioning and identifying a problem I encounter in my daily life, many from my experience as a barista. My ability to socialize allows me to connect and communicate with users on a more personal level. As a highly collaborative and optimistic learner, I thrive on the challenge of finding creative solutions that give results as both efficient and user-centered.

01

Improving the efficiency of a cafe by updating their current KDS (Kitchen Display System) to be compatible for a faster paced location.
Results: Examined design structure of an app and improved upon it to prove the core design itself isn’t at fault.

02

Examining the cost efficiency of the new parking meters installed in Toronto, Canada.
Results: Proposed a model with a button interface that is cheaper to maintain, durable, more accessible and rivals a touchscreen interface.

03

Understanding user experience from a purely physical standpoint.
Results: Modelled stand, tested prototypes amongst customers with good feedback. Currently in the process of discussing proposal to companies’ creative director with the goal of implementation.

About

Currently in my 4th year of studying Industrial Design at OCADU (Ontario College of Art and Design University), minoring in Art History. If you don’t see me rock climbing, I am most likely playing board games or heavily debating others about the best romcom movie of all time.
